The Self-focus of Self-condemnation

So long as we focus upon shortcomings we want to correct in ourselves in order to be (or to appear) more worthy, we are off-base.  Christ covered the whole of our sin at the Cross; we do not need to push forward in determination to do a better job. Our daily challenge is to fall back into the forgiveness purchased us by Christ.  It is only from a perspective of  giving way to the blessed forgiveness that is ours through the Cross that we can say (and mean it) "Thy will be done."

Lord release us from the self-focus of self-condemnation, and direct our focus, energies, and labors to those of Your choosing for us.

Thy will be done.

Trust, Know, Focus...

Remember what you have learned through Scripture and prayer. Hold in trust to what you have been taught. Remember you were saved because you believed what you heard, not by earning your way.

Though you have waited long, the waiting has been bearable because of the sweetness of His presence in moments like these, moments when you remember His love, imagine His face, and look forward to what you have been promised.

Don't give way to discouragement. You are at the very threshold to freedom from the ills that have plagued you for so long. The sweetness of His presence is around you like a scent of freshness and renewal that is unfolding before you.  Don't be afraid.

The Lord is with you. Don't give up. Rest and wait in trust.

You are almost there.

The First and Greatest Commandment

"...we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure..."

Hebrews 6:18-19.
