Maybe The Thing We Fear Won't Happen

Job vowed that even if God killed him, that he, Job, would trust the Lord.  Esther said, once she had submitted to Mordecai's urging to go before the king, "If I perish, I perish."  (Job 13:15, Esther 4:16).

However, Job lived to see more blessing during the latter portion of his life than the first, and Esther was honored and her people saved; the opposite of what she feared.

Sometimes, submission to God's will entails walking through circumstances we fear.  We can't predict our Lord's actions toward us, but Job and Esther show us a divine motif; He prospers and protects those who submit and obey.

It is certain that God is with us when we say, "I will do as you have commanded me, Lord."  Obedience to God brings peace of heart and mind; submission to His will is sweet.

Lord grant us grace to abide in obedience and free us from fear of the consequences of submission to Your will.  In Jesus' Name we pray, amen.
