Let Me Walk With Thee

I love the old hymn entitled "Just a Closer Walk With Thee." Here are the lyrics from (The Cyberhymnal):

I am weak, but Thou art strong;
Jesus, keep me from all wrong;
I’ll be satisfied as long
As I walk, let me walk close to Thee.

Just a closer walk with Thee,
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
Daily walking close to Thee,
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

Through this world of toil and snares,
If I falter, Lord, who cares?
Who with me my burden shares?
None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee.

When my feeble life is o’er,
Time for me will be no more;
Guide me gently, safely o’er
To Thy kingdom shore, to Thy shore.

Prayer for Dealing With Other Human Beings

 Lord, please free me of the pride that robs me of peace with my fellow human beings and with You. Help me to see what I am so that I can forgive others for what they are. Grant me your compassion toward people who are hurtful, and keep me from sin in response to their sin. Help me to respond with Your love, to see their hurt, to pray for them with compassion, and forgive them just as You have forgiven me. In Jesus’ Name I pray, amen.

Hearing His Voice

When we pray, praise, and read our Bibles as we seek God's will about an issue, we can be sure the Lord will guide us through our circumstances and also through impressions on our hearts.

We must avoid moving forward in our own logic and reasoning; the first step in seeking God's will is to lay our own desires on the altar. We can certainly pour out our hearts to God and receive His love and compassion in return; He has such empathy and love for us and in His mercy He takes action on our behalf. But apart from an earnest seeking of God's vision where our own can't reach, our dependance on our own logic and reasoning robs us of His enabling strength. Our life decisions must be grounded in prayer and the humility that comes from the conviction that God knows best.  When we can pray, "Thy will and not mine be done" we are on track.  Most times, when people say they can't hear God's voice, it means they have not released their will about a given situation into God's hands.

Resisting the Holy Spirit is not a happy way to live. Lord help us to trust You more, seek Your face, and humbly release our resistance to Your good and perfect will.  We trust You, Lord. Let Your good and perfect will have its good and perfect way in our lives, in Jesus' Name we pray, amen.

God's Love

This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

1 John 4:10

God's love doesn't need our participation to be effective.  But when we love God in return, our minds and hearts open to Him so that we trust Him. With trust comes the calm assurance that the Lord is in control, and we are enabled to release our frantic efforts to make everything right by our own effort.

When we believe in Jesus Christ, we are saved, not because of anything we have done, but because of what He has done. We love because He first loved us (1 John 4:19).

The moment we take our eyes from Him we begin to panic. We think everything depends on us and even worse, we become fearful that other human beings can rob us of blessings God has ordained for us. Trust in His unfailing love provides what we need to walk in His will without stumbling.

But I trust in your unfailing love;
    my heart rejoices in your salvation.
I will sing the Lord’s praise,
    for he has been good to me.
